Supra 2JZGTE VVTI Body Loom Pinouts (97.8-02)

These are the body loom and other connector pins (from the orange plug in the footwell near the ECU – to the ABS plugs) – A big thanks to Wilbo (AU supraforums), Lacho (2JZGarage reader) and EMPEROR on (UK mkiv forums) *Note – You should be able to reference the wiring diagrams to the correct PIN and connector numbers, these tables just make it easier to read in some instances.

Disclaimer – I don’t take any responsibility for these diagrams, these are referenced off 2 different diagrams I have of the 2JZGTE vvti and some are in Japanese, it is possible that some could be incorrect wire colours or descriptions due to translation errors. If you are unsure please trace wires or deal with an auto electrical professional.

  1. Hi. I’m doing a non turbo supra 2jzge engine conversion to a 2jzgte and just wondering about the looms. The gte motor is non vvt-I. Do I need a non vvt-I loom or will a vvt-I and non vvt-I be the same?

      1. im installing a 97+ jdm vvti get from a supra in my 93 jdm na supra. am i going to run into wiring problems? what will i have to rewire? thank you kindly!

        1. Hi,

It depends on the engine if it’s a GE or GTE. I’d imagine if it’s just an GE then the appropriate engine loom and ECU will be required and not much else, although I haven’t dealt with the GE VVTi much, and if it’s a JDM GE VVTi then it wouldn’t be out of a supra and there would be a custom loom required to adapt to the ECU. If it’s a conversion to the GTE then you will require additional EFI fuses, relays and wiring (Quickly check out the comments in this post for information on the EFI wiring http://www.2jzgarage.com/2012/02/2jzgte-vvti-information/).

Further to that there is some body loom wiring I did review but didn’t need to make any modifications from memory, there is 1 plug for the advanced ECU/TRAC that I didn’t use, there was also 1 wire colour mis-match but did the same function. I can’t speak for earlier models as I did this on my 98 JDM, but it essentially should be the same.

          1. i thought ecu plug ins were the same on both except for the last big grat one that is for abs. dang it and i just bought an auto aristo ecu for my supra cuz i thought they would fit.

            1. Actually I just realised that the JZS161 aristo (vvti) ECU and plugs are the same, I though the last one was also the same? I think the last plug is for ABS and Trac on the supra where as the Aristo it’s for engine immobiliser and another earth.
