Supra gear/diff ratio and tyre size ratio calculator

This calculator shows the effect of fitting various sized diff and gearboxes to the MKIV supra, it also contains a graphical chart showing the effect of different tyre and wheel sizes and also offsets that effect both fitment to the hub and the change on speed/acceleration. There are two main sheets on the file, Wheel size fitment and gear ratio calculator.

Thanks to Homer off mkivsupra.net owners club for this excel file, If you have any other handy supra or 2jz related calculators feel free to contact us below.

Cleaning 2JZ VVTi Oil Control Valve (OCV)

This is a guide to cleaning the VVTi Oil Control Valve (OCV) and filter on the 2JZGTE or 2JZGE VVTi engine. This is the valve the controls the oil pressure sent to the VVTi intake cam gear assembly. This can be done as preventive maintenance, to replace with new components or if there are error codes. I’ve seen various forums that mention code 59 for supra and P1329 for IS300/Aristo which may be cleared by cleaning the OCV if there are issues with the VVTi system.

Supra and 2JZ World Record 1/4 Mile Runs

E.Kanoo Racing has just broken the 2JZ World Record again, 3 major records were smashed with their 10.5 Outlaw 3/4 chassis supra driven by Garry White;

Fastest Toyota Supra
Fastest 2JZ powered vehicle
Fastest Import

Congratulations to the E.Kanoo Racing team, hopefully GAS motorsport can bring the record back to Australia 🙂

E.Kanoo have also beaten the IRS supra record, running a 7.12 @ 201 mph. What a great achievement!

Video is a mini documentary and both runs are in there.

LS2 LQ9 Coil Installation

UPDATE – 420kw @ 24.5psi, big thanks to Rick @ Mojo performance and Glen @ ESP Racing Queanbeyan, dyno sheets listed below. This made another 30rwkw+ (40rwhp+) on very similar boost.

UPDATE 2 – Thanks to Steve at Torque Toyota for the attached diagram below of the 2JZGTE VVTi ignition wiring to match the Mojo kit.

UPDATE 3 – The car has since made 486kw @ 24.5psi on e85.

After many months of troubleshooting my ignition issues as seen in this post HERE I finally came to the realisation that the stock igniter setup wasn’t going to work with my requirements. I didn’t want any complicated aftermarket igniter or alternative solutions so I did some further research and came across the LS2 LQ9 kit from Mojo Performance. After reading some great reviews on supraforums –  I ended up purchasing them.

Rick from Mojo Performance was great to deal with, gave plenty of support and info and was very responsive via email considering the time differences between Australia and the US! In short it is a great bit of kit, easy to install, clear instructions and they resolved my ignition issues and I no longer have any break up of ignition on the road, although I’m yet to get back to the dyno and push it to it’s limits, this is where I used to get the worst issues.

Below is some basic installation steps on the kit for my 2JZGTE VVTi, I haven’t gone into the wiring too much as the diagrams are provided and will vary depending on your setup and aftermarket ECU, but there is the diagram above (See – UPDATE 2) to assist for stock setups . For those wanting to run the coils on the stock ECU you will need to purchase an additional module to generate an IGF signal for it to work correctly. The kit is available for 2JZGE and 2JZGTE non-vvti and vvti.

Some specific notes to my installation – I used the stock igniter wiring by cutting off the existing stock connector and soldering loom, I used the stock noise filter, I hid it away down near the front shock tower. The coils were wired in wasted spark, 3x ViPEC V88 ECU outputs used to drive them, this is possible as each coil has an igniter, but as always please refer to your specific ECU setup and wiring requirements. Currently running 3.5ms dwell.

This is the what is provided in the kit, all required hardware, quality wiring looms and instructions with wiring diagrams

Toyota Supra SZR to RZ conversion (2JZGE – 2JZGTE VVTi)

The last video I’m uploading tonight – the video that started it all for me to get into this supra media coverage/publishing. Now over 120,000+ views on youtube I’m pretty stoked and overwhelmed by the reponse. Although a simple video diary of pictures and seems to hit the spot with viewers. At the time I had no idea about cars or supras but managed to do the conversion successfully with the help of guys from supraforums and friends/family.

Gas Motorsport Drag Celicas

2JZGarage is looking to keep up with the 2JZGTE powered vehicles of Australia and the world from now on – this is some footage I got back at GAS motorsports back in 2009 – the guys at GAS have now powerered some of their vehciles to low 6 sec runs (6.32 @ 223mph for the gold celica pictured in the video)  on the 2JZ-  An amazing achievement and more videos news to come!

Few pics and video footage of GAS Motosport Toyota Celica 2jz powered drag cars in their workshop that I took on a supra dyno day. These produce around 2000hp each 🙂
