November 9th 2013 was the 2nd running of the Snowy Mountains 1000m event – http://snowymountains1000.com.au/. This event is to see who is the fastest (and has the highest top speed) from a standing start over a 1000m (1km) airport runway in an regional Australian town (Cooma, NSW). No race fuels, no nitrous, and only on street radial tyres.
The new Toyota FT-1 concept was released today at the 2014 Detroit Auto show, not many details at this stage but hopefully it serves as a new platform for the supra. Few screen grabs from the live stream press conference.

Thought I’d had these posted but realised I hadn’t, this is the 2005 IS300 workshop manual pages. These come in handy for the VVTi guys due to the VVTi head torque and specs, most apply to the 2JZGE and 2JZGTE VVTi figures.
Most of these documents are applicable to the J-SPEC and Europe-SPEC supras. There might be differences to driving side, wiring and some features and functions.
This is a guide to cleaning the VVTi Oil Control Valve (OCV) and filter on the 2JZGTE or 2JZGE VVTi engine. This is the valve the controls the oil pressure sent to the VVTi intake cam gear assembly. This can be done as preventive maintenance, to replace with new components or if there are error codes. I’ve seen various forums that mention code 59 for supra and P1329 for IS300/Aristo which may be cleared by cleaning the OCV if there are issues with the VVTi system.
This article is to help out with the troubleshooting of the ETCS-i (Electronic Throttle Control System intelligence)also otherwise known as the DBW (Drive By Wire) system found on the 2JZ GE and GTE VVTi, this article is aimed at the supra but may also to apply to the JZS161 Aristo or any other ETCS-i equipped Toyota/Lexus vehicle.
This is a guide to replacing a cam gear/s on the 2JZGTE or 2JZGE engine.
Some of these steps can be used to replace the timing belt, but not all, in the future I hope to have a full article on that process.
